Dr. Robert Cisneros, associate professor in the College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences, joined hundreds of others on March 2 for a head-shaving event at Napper Tandy’s in Raleigh to benefit St. Baldrick’s Foundation, which raises funds for childhood cancer research. A member of a team of five called “Kids to Cure Cancer” led by the Rev. Robin Hardison of Memorial Baptist Church, Cisneros and others raised several thousand dollars for the charity event. “There were hundreds of people at the event having their heads shaved: cancer patients, healthcare professionals, family members of cancer patients as well as significant others,” said Cisneros. “It was really touching to be part of something that will help children like this event.” Cisneros added that he’s been getting some odd looks lately. “But that’s gives me a chance to tell others about St. Baldrick’s Foundation and the purpose of the event.”
