Marvel never fails to please when it comes to action and entertainment! Their new, highly-anticipated, family-friendly television series, “Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D.,” premiered recently on ABC and so far so good!
According to CNN “The ABC program’s Tuesday premiere was viewed by 11.9 million viewers and earned a 4.6 rating in the target adult demographic.”
In the past, Marvel has linked several of their projects together and “Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D” is the most recent connection. It’s a spin-off of the movie “The Avengers,” so fans were already familiar with some of the characters.
Still carrying out the typical superhero plot of saving the world from bad guys, the first episode started off with all kinds of heroic action.
Shockingly Agent Coulson, who previously appeared in “The Avengers,” is the main character in this series. He is the one who leads the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D (strategic homeland intervention enforcement and logistics division).
Any Marvel fan knows that Agent Coulson was allegedly killed in “The Avengers.” The first episode answered any confusion about his death. According to Agent Coulson, he faked his death to motivate the Avengers, and was sent to Tahiti.
Also in the first episode, the audience is introduced to a new character known as the “hooded hero,” who uses his powers to help people. However, as his anger builds up, his powers become dangerous. That’s where S.H.I.E.L.D steps up in attempt to protect the world, and the hooded hero himself, from these threatening powers.
The show may have been an hour long but that certainly wasn’t enough for me and I’m sure other viewers would agree.
I have never been disappointed with a Marvel film and I’m anxious to see what they have in store for future episodes. I definitely would like to see an appearance from other characters that played a role in the “Avengers”. Maybe Samuel L. Jackson?
